These simple constructs are often created for children or as proof of concept for larger tools. Despite their resemblance to clockworks, wind-up widgets are animated by magic rather than complex internal mechanisms. They lack power sources, however, and must still be wound up before use.
The hand-powered digger resembles a small handheld drill. Once activated and placed against a surface, at the start of each of your turns, it digs 15 feet in a straight line through dirt, sand, or another loose material (as a burrow Speed) or deals 5 damage to any harder or denser material, ignoring that material's Hardness if it's 4 or less. The digger leaves a tunnel 1 foot in diameter behind it.
1 minute (manipulate)
once per day
You turn the widget's crank for 1 minute, and it comes to life. The widget operates autonomously—as described in its entry—for 10 minutes, then curls into a small metal ball until your next daily preparations.
