Armor of Nessus
Over the course of 1 minute, the ship's crew lowers spiky metal plates across key sections of the hull. The ship gains a +2 circumstance bonus to its AC and immunity to precision damage. Its collision damage becomes piercing damage. Its weakness to fire is reduced to 5, but its swim Speed is reduced to 15 feet and it can no longer be rowed. The crew can retract the plates by taking another minute.
Weapon Mounts
This vehicle has 2 weapon mounts, one on each side of the vehicle. At purchase, these weapon mounts are initially empty. Installing or uninstalling a weapon into a mount requires 1 day, a successful DC 31 Crafting check, and an appropriate weapon. The weapon mounts can be equipped with Huge or smaller ranged siege weapons.
This imposing warship is known for transforming into an ironclad juggernaut when plates of blackened iron covered in spikes are lowered over its rowing ports. Most hellclad triremes have threatening figureheads shaped like screaming devils.
